The Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner, or Reuion dinner is very large with many Vietnamese and Chinese dishes.
Tuyet, my sister made “Ga Tiem”, Teochew steamed stuffed chicken, our family traditional dish, and has been in our family for generations. This dish is very light and savory, and served with fried rice. At the reunion dinner, she served it with “Happy saffron rice.”
Well seasoning stuffed chicken is placed in a bowl, and steamed for 2 hours or until tender. Last minutes, cover chicken with cabbage leaves and steam for another 5 minutes. Serve warm with fried rice.
Stuffing: Ground pork, diced chestnuts, pearl onions, chopped carrot, lotus seeds, gingko, black mushrooms…
